The V&T (Virginia & Truckee Railroad Company) from Carson City, Nevada to Virginia City, NV starts just above the Carson River Canyon and runs along the east side of Mound House and across a railroad bridge over U.S. Highway 50 and then picks up the historic Comstock Era route. The end of the line brings you into Virginia City, with a free shuttle to downtown C Street.
Mission San Juan Bautista was founded on June 24, 1797 in what is now the San Juan Bautista Historic District of San Juan Bautista, California. The Ohlone, the original residents of the valley, were brought to live at the mission and baptized, followed by Yokuts from the Central Valley. It’s the largest of the Spanish Missions in California.
Lloyd Lake is located in Golden Gate Park in San Francisco, CA. It’s home to a wide variety of non-native, non-migratory birds which include geese, peking ducks, muscovy ducks, campbell ducks, mallards, gulls, and pigeons. The lake is also home to some early San Francisco architecture. The portico in one of our photos was a gift to the city by the widow of Alban Nelson Towne after the 1906 earthquake which cause them to lose their home. Lloyd Lake is named in memory of Rueben Headley Lloyd, the park commissioner.
Las Vegas is the most populous city in the state of Nevada. It’s an internationally renowned major resort city for gambling, shopping, fine dining, and entertainment and known as the Entertainment Capital of the World. It was established in 1905 and officially became in a city in 1911. The city’s tolerance for various forms of adult entertainment earned it the title of Sin City.

Carmel-by-the-Sea, usually called simply Carmel is a small town in Monterey County. Clint Eastwood served a term as mayor of Carmel in 1986. We took these photos as we walked on the white-sand beach. The homes are across from the beach…talk about a view! The home with the For Sale was going for just $6,900,000! Gotta pay to look at the sea!
One of our favorite places to visit is the City of Monterey which is located on Monterey Bay along the Pacific coast in Central California. These photos were taken during our stay from September 3rd to 7th of 2009.
